- Remote play, so I have no idea what T-shirt Antonia is wearing, but I got my new "Wizard -->" shirt!!
- A few hours after leaving the Kraken-inked ocean, Captain Gringamore knocks on Niniel's door where she is resting in shared quarters, and he asks her to come and looks at something because he thinks they might be being followed.
- The Patron Pouch is empty when she checks it before heading back out to deck, but she whispers into it, "If you are following us that would be real cool."
- Niniel looks, and she can see the disturbance of the water that's following them but not what it is, so she gets Soliana to have Stardust (hawk) do a loop. There looks like a giant crayfish following them just keeping pace with the Storm Caller.
- Soliana creates a Floating Disk that Niniel sits on and then Soliana hangs out at the bottom of the rope ladder which lets Niniel get closer to the beast to try for a conversation.
- She still can't hear it, so she just tosses Soliana a rope and then holds the end and hops into the water
- Once she's in the water it asks, "Who are you?" She introduces herself.
- It says her name sounds familiar, and asks if she is an "Emissary". He was instructed to follow her.
- She confirms that he is just following and is not planning to attack the ship. He says "The Master is concerned with interference." The Kraken is also the giant crayfish's master. The crayfish is named Jaravnik.
- Captain Gringamore is a bit concerned that the giant crayfish was told to follow them by an "unknown entity" because of course Niniel is not admitting that she serves the Kraken.
- Niniel gets a handful of salted meats from Hargak and she tosses it to Jaravnik like she's feeding ducks.
- Jaravnik eats it, but is otherwise inscrutable.
- They sail for another day or two and once they get close enough to Port Carling, Jaravnik disappears.
- Niniel then notices that there's a new page in her book with rune at the top, and she and Soliana figure out that it's like a Message Address. (Far Sending, new Warlock power). Niniel can now communicate with her best friend back home Ginereesa ("Gin"). Gin is a siren. They haven't seen each other in two years.
- Niniel then spends a lot of time on the phone with her bestie until they get back to Port Carling.
- They pull into port on a gray, drizzly day in late autumn. Soliana creates another Floating Disk for Zemma to walk under.
- They all trudge up the hill to Sir Grispin Foxglove's cottage and they debrief.
- Sir Foxglove pulls a book by a Professor Thaddeus Quellmore, and Grim pipes up that Quellmore was an idiot.
- Grim's short known history is explained to Foxglove who is, and Sir F says that Quellmore has been dead for at least 50 years.
- Quellmore wrote extensively about ley lines and using them to control magical phenomena. Soliana posits that maybe Quellmore ran an experiment that backfired and that's how Grim got stuck in the book.
- Foxglove then gives them 400 GP each for their efforts.
- Soliana arranges to contact him again in a week to see if he has discovered anything new.
- Since they don't really have anywhere else to go, they start heading back to the Captain's Keep tavern.
- While they are walking, a bird with green plumage (and yellow-gold specks) with a black band around its eyes squawks loudly and then lands on Soliana's shoulder and has a letter tied to its leg:
- Soliana first Sends to Headmistress Sharai Tunuvian at Moon Veil Academy to ask if she can come get them from Port Carling, but Sharai messages back incredulity about spending two Teleports to come get them and bring them back.
- They trudge back up the hill and ask Sir Foxglove if he could send them to Arrandale, and he can, so he does!
- They land in a city park near the Moon Veil Academy.
- Caleb gets them back to campus and then they head straight to Sharai's office and debrief her as well on everything they have been doing.
- From there they stop in the library and talk to the librarian and one of Soliana's only two friends at the school Venali Elamoira. From there they learn that Professor Quellmore work and studied and published from the Elderspire Institute. Venali doesn't know where that is, but she will look into it.
- They book passage to Lamara through the school's transportation program, which Soliana pays for everyone at a total cost of 1 GP.
- From there they head across the street to a shop where Niniel buys a Rod of Pactkeeper for 550 GP, and Soliana gets 200 GP worth of experimentation components.
- Soliana casts Sending to Ms. Emmyth to let her know that she and her friends will be there the next evening.
- Caleb then takes Niniel (and everyone else) to the Vrock and Troll tavern, which is really busy. Niniel orders the house specialty a Troll's Kiss, and she received a glass with purplish liquid. It starts sweet and floral, and then it's straight jet fuel.
- They spend an hour or three in the tavern before getting some bunks in the boarding house up the street.
- 1,250 XP ea for 8,250 total XP ea.
